The Aswan Forum’s National Coordination Committee Holds Its First Meeting

Cairo, Egypt – As part of the ongoing preparations for “the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development”, to be held in Aswan, Egypt on 11-12 December 2019, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the first meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on 27 August 2019.

Presided over by Ambassador Hamdy Loza, Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs, the meeting took stock of the ongoing preparations of the forum, and exchanged views on harmonizing national efforts of various ministries. Ambassador Loza stressed the importance of the Forum as the highlight of the Egyptian Chairmanship of the African Union. The forum coincides with current reform efforts in both the United Nations and the African Union. 

The National Coordination Committee is comprised of a number of Ministries and national entities, namely the Ministry of Defense (MOD), the Ministry of Interior (MOI), Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Antiquities, Ministry of Tourism, State Information Service (SIS), Egyptian Airport Authority, EgyptAir, Egyptian Tourism Authority, Central Bank of Egypt, and the Governorate of Aswan. It supervises the work of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) and is presided over by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
